Sixty Years of the People`s Republic of China
網誌日期:2009-10-02
Happy Holiday and Anniversary to all!!! Yesterday was the national holiday, but I know some people take today (Friday) off as well to enjoy a truly long weekend. What kind of trip or things do you guys have planned?
Here are some photos from the functions I attended recently. I didn’t think there’s much use keeping them all to myself. Share them with you all. hehe

This was a dinner celebration for people within the television and film industry for China's 60th annivery.

This is a entirely different event. It was to celebrate the 60th anniversary of China, but also to promote Shanghai Expo 2010.

We had front row seats for the show where it was especially breath-taking during the air ballet part. The dancers seemed to be at the top of our heads at 2 o'clock during their full circle swings. I was too focused on the show to have photos of the performances. Sorry!

中秋節 @ Old Folks Home
網誌日期:2009-09-28
Mid-Autumn festival, like Christmas is a time where the family gathers and celebrate together at home over dinner. Two days ago we went to an old folk’s home to celebrate the season with them. We played a few musical games with them and handed out sugar-free mooncakes at the end of the event. We had fun and did only a few things, but yet they were so happy to see us. It was an afternoon well spent. I hope all of you guys will have good time celebrating with family during this Mid-Autumn festival.

Buyer’s Favorite Jewellery Competition
網誌日期:2009-09-26
The Hong Kong Convention Centre is the place to go to for all kinds of trade shows, book, career fairs and cultural functions. We were very honored to be guest judges at this year’s jewellery and gem trade show. The judging process was fairly simple, but the task itself was difficult to complete in a short amount of time, because all the final pieces eligible for judging were stunning in their own ways. Some of the pieces’ designs were to showcase the use of new technology (for jewellery making) while other designers put a new spin on styles you can currently find on the market.
The highest scoring component we were to fill out was whether we thought the piece has market potential. This is a trade show afterall and the entire event has its roots based on market potential. I have to wonder if some of the very elaborate necklaces or bangles we saw yesterday will make it to the market without having their designs altered? Considering that “practicality”, while does not count for a lot in overall scoring, is definitely something the consumer has in mind when they make their purchases.
I hope to find out what the results are once they are announced. I know the girls and I had a great time.
